Richard, we are getting confused here. I'm not the one with the problem but Technoblurb is.
He has found out that if he used aRGB instead of sRGB in raw that the colour is correct, when coverting from Pef to DNG. For the rest I'm with you on that part that I don't see a difference either but that does not explain why it does for Technoblurb, I can't get my head around why it should either and was hoping you know more but you're also at lost...

As for PP.
I don't save in tiff for photoshop, I use the DNG instead so I don't bother about colour profiles only when first opening a RAW file, but that's a camera profile and later only when I save the file to jpg I convert to a colour profile.
Most of the time that's sRGB for web use and for printing I use a custom printing profile that the print-shop has giving me for their printers or I print at home straight from Photoshop and let that handle the colours with custom printer profiles.
That way I go around the whole dilemma of colour profiles although I know the printer can print colours that my monitor can't display and vice versa but you always keep that problem.
Working with a smaller colour space that both devices can project is an option but also a compromise in my view, but you do get so good as matching colours.
It seems we are talking the same language.

I think the issue is that many people become very confused between camera & printer/paper/ink "profiles" and colour "space", which is not the same thing at all.

Users should just stick to sRGB unless the really do understand colour space configuration and workflow.

I agree. Many of the colour problems experienced stem from moving away from the straightforward option.

Just downloaded the latest Camera Raw 5.5 update from Adobe for Elements 7 and now the PEF files load up fine through Camera Raw and no more pink tinge when looking at the PEF files through Picasa 3.

Thanks for the link, I did see that on the Adobe site but it didn't state if it was for PSE7 so decided to stick with the 5.5 version which did say it was for PSE7. The K7 PEF files now load up ok through PSE7 and there's no problem with Picasa3 anymore so I'll switch my camera back from DNG to PEF.

Yes you're right about that but the strange thing is it does have an installation instructions for PSE 7, so that's where it lost me.
