K7 Problems ?

What do you get in your newsagents Mike? The Sunday sport
If it is anything like the ones we get, Tesco's racks and racks of woman’s Mags, a few sports mags, one or two train spotters and the camera mags round the back even then only one or two.
The one and only Newsagents in my area has a few, up on the top shelves with all the mucky books for the blokes in old raincoats with bad memories.

With 2x bodies and 3x grips (bodies from seperate batches we believe) I refuse to believe that it is an isolated incident, and I'm not going to compromise by going gripless either. After replacing and refunding the latest spec 17" MacBook Pro as well just a few short weeks ago, I don't think I will be an early adopter again in a hurry.
With the K-7 so under my skin as I'm sure most of you know, I am well and truly gutted.

But although I know you don't want to hear 'Did you try...', I'll say it anyway...
Sticking dials is an occasional 'fault' with my K10D, and my *istD before it, when used with a grip. All it is with these is that one of the dials (the one you're not trying to turn) has moved half a notch, so it's between full clicks. A quick turn of this dial sorts it out.
Might that have been it? Did you try that? I have a feeling you did, but can remember for sure.
Are the dials different to the K10Ds? Do they have a different feel to them? It might be that the contacts in them have changed and it's more prevalent a problem now than it was before. :

Yes Dan, did try all that, it's normally me helping others with that problem! The K20 has very stiff dials compared to the K-7, so it would be an easy mistake to make, so I made sure I wasn't a complete numpty before exchanging stuff!
Weird stuff though as we spent over an hour in the shop mucking around with it, and one of the 'conclusions' was that it happened more often with my lenses on it!
Will definately buy another one though, but just gonna wait for the bugs to be ironed out!

Danny that is soooo frustrating I can imagine what a pain in the a*** this has been for you not getting the camera you expected, having to change, test then finding the fault reoccurring in another. I know it doesn't help but I can say that my grip is practically welded to my K-7 and hasn't missed a beat. Both front and rear dials have worked 100% :

Huw. I hope you enjoyed your holiday and your wedding anniversary. It's good to hear the K7 worked OK. No green lines. Wheels worked OK. All in fact OK. Thats good news for me as I'm just about to order mine. CHEERS Vic
