Thanks for comments.
Daz, most of my recent macro shots were taken using the diff. There are three on the Gallery at the mo.
I'll do a with & without pair asap & post here.
What, Algi, & take some of the corks off?
Roger.

Milk bottle plastic is cheap and handy but transmits a lot of light. I found that it still gives a specular hotspot. Tissue paper is kinder but eats 3 stops. I'm using oiled 120mg fine quality paper these days
... just another middle-aged guy with a hobby. I have an extreme macro learning site at extreme-macro.co.uk - Pentax-centric, your feedback and comments would be appreciated!

But it's much more fun gathering corks!

The unit. Note the double thickness tab which ensures a more snug fit in the hot-shoe. Some tidying-up needed for the production run!
The unit in place. The flashunit is popped-up & the (double-thickness) tab is inserted into the hot-shoe. A rubber band stabilises the unit but is not essential unless "in the field".
A side view of the unit in place. The Pentax OM E 35 viewfinder eyepiece is handy in that it allows more clearanc for viewing, & a useful location for the rubberband stabiliser, when used.
All images, Optio S5i.
Any C&C or suggestions for improvement welcome!
Oh & by the way....It works!
Roger.
