K7 & Metz 58 - sync cable?

Hi

I recently ordered what I thought was a sync cable between the K7 and Metz 58 AF-1 flash gun but it was for the flash gun battery pack (which I don't have!!) lol

so instead of confusing myself I thought I'd ask on here with people that are for more knowledgeable than me

Do I need a special kind of sync cable or is there compatibility issues so need a certain type?

is this any good?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maxim-Flash-Olympus-Pentax-Supplies/dp/B003C21Y80/ref=pd_cp_ce_3

my recent purchases have been going wrong - I brought a bracket that didn't come with a flash gun holder so I need to find one of those too
http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-custom-brackets-cb-digital-s/p1026871

I wish I waited and got the folding one... oh well... any suggestions or help on the sync cable would be great!

Thank you

Lenny

Bought one of these from 7dayshop last week. Arrived on Monday and have been having a play with it today. So far, all positives; seems well engineered and synchs perfectly between my K5 and AF360FGZ. Really can't go wrong for 8 quid.

good to know - I brought it yesterday so might turn up in a few weeks

looks like the part that fixes to the flash gun has the option of being screwed onto a light stand so I might not have to buy another part just to fix it to the camera bracket.. fingers crossed

Yes, the part that fixes to the flashgun has a flash shoe and a female tripod mounting screw underneath so you could mount it either on a tripod or something that has a hot shoe mount like a flash grip.

Got the cable today but it doesn't work!

I tried the flash on the camera and it works fine as usual but add the cable and no flash - do you think it's because it's a Metz 58 or I just managed to get a dud?

quick delivery though as I was expecting it to be late because of xmas.

I bought my cable when I had the K-7 and it worked on both the Pentax and Metz flashes I had at the time.

I've downloaded the update for the flash - I just need to track down the usb cable for it and then I'll try again.

That's good news for me I've bought the cable cos it seemed a bargain and am now looking for a flashgun to go with it
