K5 noise.

Hi Major, this has come up one or two times before so it might be worth checking through the forum search; but from memory, as the sensor assembly in the camera is, to an extent, floating (so that the shake reduction will work) it's movement is what you hear I think; or else it's a portrait/landscape orientation sensor. Don't think it's anything to worry about and all the pentax dslrs do it... Although if I am wrong someone else will be along shortly and correct me!

I think the consensus is that it is the movement of the shake reduction component - same with my K5 and nothing to worry about.

It is I think mentioned in the instruction book, but is easily missed. It is the sensor assembly moving, as it has to for the SR system to work.

The sensor on the SR system is held in its place using magnets. Same magnets are used for movements of sensor when SR is on. So swiching off SR just prevents the movements of sensor but those magnets are still in use keeping the sensor middle of the area and stationary, and this is the noise you hear.

Shake, rattle and roll? If all else fails, read the instructions:- see K-5 Operating Manual, page 17.

Just noticed a barely audible noise when I tilt my camera (with or without any lens) either to the left or right.
It felt like a loose component moving freely maybe a centimetre or less!!
Otherwise, it seems to function perfectly.
Your comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Bet some of you would be checking your K5 for that noise! LoL!
