k5 intermittent fault

Sent k5 back to Pentax as when turn on would just show full battery sign for split second then dead. Had back been ok just done it again all pentax seem to have done is update firmware and added about 2000 to shutter count the problem pinning down seldom happening intermittent fault , anyone else had this fault taking battery out has no effect

Sounds as though a connector's loose somewhere in the guts of the cam, or the pcb is fried. Send it back to Pentax, quoting the Sale of Goods Act, specifically the part about "being fit for purpose". Should fetch you a brand-new camera at the very least. Consider any additional freebies a definite bonus.

When it does it again will video it so can show pentax the problem as when they got it it was working fine its a pain

No point quoting the sale of goods act to Pentax, as your sale of goods contract is with the original vendor.

Noticed it does it when no sd card in it is this normal if so very happy, but sure it used to say no sim card. Can someone turn k5 on with no sim card in and tell me what happens thanks

Have you tried a different battery?

Took battery grip, off tried back to no card in camera, replaced battery pack now saying no card in camera both genuine pentax batteries.Not been able to turn on has happened twice lost 2 hrs 1st time ten minutes the second

Don't spend any more time trying to diagnose faults - get it back to the shop that sold it to you, or send to Pentax. Even though the one-year warranty may have expired, the camera must be "fit for purpose" for a "reasonable" amount of time. If you don't get any satisfaction, try issuing a claim through the small claims court.

Sounds like you need to demand a replacement camera

Mine does the same when there is no card in the slot. Is fine when the card is replaced. Current software version is 1.12

A warning would be a nice friendly touch.

pmcquail i hope it doesnt happen to you that when you turn it on you get quick sight of battery full sign , with sd card in taking battery out does nothing then after period of time fine again . British Legion 90th anniversary do was unable to take picture of local mp he had to go back to table as i couldnt turn camera on felt a right pillock

With mine it fires up correctly with no card fitted if the card door is properly closed.

Gives the battery full symbol for about a second and then goes blank if the door is open regardless of whether there is a card fitted.
