It comes with a battery and charger - they are different to the K20D but the same as the K7 has.
I imagine the cable release is still the same.

I know that the K7 battery doesn't fit in the K10D or K20D but it might work vice versa.
As far as I know both chargers can be used to charge both batteries.

Um... Are you saying the K7 might fit the K20D but the K20D won't fit the K7:

the k7 what?Um... Are you saying the K7 might fit the K20D but the K20D won't fit the K7:
The battery from the K10D or K20D might fit in the K7 but don't hang me if it isn't so.
The batteries are the same size and the connections are so far as I know the same as well (accept for the middle connection from the K7, that's i believe for battery temperature).
The batteries from the K20D are B shaped the battery of the K7 is D shape.
Because of the little nick in the B shaped battery the D shape battery won't fit in the K20D but... the B might fit in the D.
Someone who has the K7 might be able to confirm if they fit or not.

All is clear But are the K20D ones a different power output compared with the K7 - K5 ones

They both use two Li-IOn batteries of the same size/length, the ones in the K7 does have more capacity but the voltage is the same and it's the voltage that's important.

Thanks Stefan. I think I now have my shopping list - just the grip (unless the cable release is different, but as Gwyn says - probably not)

As an owner of both a K20D and a K-7 I can categorically state the the batteries are different and incompatible.
Both batteries are a similar size but the upper face of the K-7 battery is flat while the K20D battery has an indentation. The K-7 battery will therefore slide into the K20D but not the other way around. However this academic as the contacts on both batteries are in different places and don't line up. In addition the K20D battery only has two contacts whereas the K-7 battery has three as does their respective chargers.
My understanding is that the K-5 body shell is based on the K-7 and therefore share the same design of battery just as previously the K20D shared body shell and battery design with the K10D.

Glyn I thought the contacts did line up, they are both on the same side right?
The outer two contacts of the k7 carry the charge the middle one is not needed by my knowledge, that one is used to check the temperature of the battery.
