A curious idea, let's put prices up £100 so the dealers can offer £50 body only or £80 off with a lens.

This is what is dropping me upgrading to a k5. Begrudge paying the new price to have it brought back to previous price with the cashback

£699 for a camera body that is forced up (like many of the lenses) in price to £799 and then to have a partial restoration with a £50 voucher claim nonsense.
Doesn't seem like Pentax UK have quite got what it is to build loyalty does it?

It's an opportunity to buy at a reduced price based on today's prices. Yesterday's prices were yesterday's and in keeping with the general rise in prices from all marques. They just hit at different times.
I would buy while the going is good. After the offer, it will just cost more again.

It's not he dealer that offers you £50 off though its a cash back deal, so the offer is with Pentax.A curious idea, let's put prices up £100 so the dealers can offer £50 body only or £80 off with a lens.
At Amazon price is currently £740.41 - £50 = £690.41, so price is lower than before price increase...

Must be a US/UK thing as the price here is still around GBP550 body only.£699 for a camera body that is forced up (like many of the lenses) in price to £799 and then to have a partial restoration with a £50 voucher claim nonsense.

Not for long. Prices always drop when new models come out. Look at the price of a K-r now to its price when it came out.
By the way, thanks to Keir for the original post in Leads to Deals where this would sit better.

This is not a Lead to a Deal in the acceptance sense of the phrase (bargain offer from a particular source), but an official Pentax promotion that runs for 2.5 months, which is probably why John has left it where it was posted.
