K5 + sigma 150-500mm

Hi folks

Im currently still using my K20d with my Sigma 150-500mm for wildlife photos. Im thinking of upgrading to a K5 but Im wondering if there will be significant improvements to do so. DOes anyone use the K5 and Sigma 150-500mm for wildlife? And do you find the AF better for action/in flight shots? I imagine the good high ISO perfomance helps with shutter speed when forced to use f8.0 for fully sharp images, is this so?

Neil I use the 170-500 Sigma lens and its great to use on the K5. The Higher ISO speed (and less noise) means that I can push the ISO up to around 3200 or 6400 and handhold the lens shooting birds, etc. I don't think the AF is faster on this lens (smaller lens yes, but this is a big lens).

You also have the extra pixels which means cropping images down still retains lots of detail.

I've got the 120-400mm Neil and I upgraded from the K10D to K5 for the reasons Gary mentions - higher ISO capability = faster shutter speed and also cropping leaves a bigger image than before.

If you shoot, as I do, wildlife in woodland as well, the ISO performance is also a positive - I can keep taking pictures at dusk now, which wasn't an option before!

I spent yesterday trying to get some red kites around here - and the focusing and 'hit rate' were SO much better than the K10D. I'm just off out to have another go!

I have the 50-500mm and echo what the others have said.

Much better lens on the K-5 when compared to the K10D/K0D .. even the K-7.
