K5 - IQ when zooming on the LCD

Interesting. I shoot Raw only, which was also how I shot on the K20D.
I just turned on RAW+ to see if it makes a difference, but unfortunately it doesn't I still get jaggies and loads of other visible jpeg artefacts at 14x. I'm pretty sure I didn't get these (at least not to the same extent) on the K20D.

14X that's a pretty extreme zoom isn't it? I never zoom past 8X.

Is it? I don't really know I posted a question on this forum about it a long while back, and apparently on the K20D 14x was approximately 1:1.

Noticed same thing on the K-7. Much crisper LCD image than my K200D, but zooming in on the screen is disappointing. On the K200D it was like zooming into the actual image on my computer, right up to 1:1, but with the K7 (as GDN suggests) it's as if you are blowing up a low resolution preview.

Ah, that's interesting, thanks for that. It is a bit disappointing TBH, although I can just about see enough to judge if it's sharp or not, the blocky artefacts everywhere definitely don't make it easier.

Zooming in on Live view is very different to zooming in on a preview of an already taken shot though.I do not trust the LCD to tell me if it's sharp or not on a K10D.

On my K20D zooming a taken shot isn't pixellated at all. Zooming on Live vierw is terrible and very 'blocky' - I'd heard this was fixed with the K-5
btw - The K10D doesn't have a Live View.

I know. I've been using the LiveView technique with the 7D and it has helped an awful lot as stuff which looked "OK" on that LCD is in reality not as good as it should be.

On of the reasons for the difference is the K20D has a delta array layout for the pixels.
