At last! Some K3 images to make you sit up and pay attention. Very nice shots indeed. I look forward to some landscapes too, especially if you could do a few side by side comparisons with the K5.

That would be great. I'm not sure if the finer points of resolution or IQ could necessarily be assessed on the screen?
But it would be very interesting to see the effects of the new PRIME III processor on premium jpegs taken from the camera
Thanks for showing the lovely bird images Alan

I think these particular shots are the best indication yet of what the K-3 is capable of and if they are anything to go by I don't think we will be disappointed. As we've said many times before, the photographer is more important than the camera, but put a quality tool in the hands of someone like Alan and the results will speak for themselves. There are several things that immediately strike me about these shots:
1. The clarity
2. The resolution
3. The colour rendition
4. The accuracy of focus
I think the fourth is a given where Alan is concerned, but the other three get me excited straight away!
Well done Alan, you have proved to me the potential of this camera with these stunning shots.
Regards
David

Fab Set Alan!
As you know I am a big fan of the Sigma 150 500 setup with the K-5.
I would love you to tell me what you thought of it
- tracking
- ISO 1600 and 3200
Cheers!

I have long admired Alan's pictures, and I like these very much as always. But in reality they say a lot more about the photographer than the camera.
I don't think it's possible to say that they indicate a great deal about the camera at the size that we're seeing them here.
I'd agree that the amount of fine detail in the Kingfisher, Nuthatch and solitary Blue Tit pictures is excellent, and possibly very slightly greater than we'd normally see from the K-5 (as indeed should be the case, with all those extra MP), but I'm not convinced that they show anything else.
In fact the one of Bluey and Woody doesn't have the crispness that the others have, even at the woeful size we're still limited to here, and the Treecreeper's green background looks rather noisy.
I am still desperately hoping that the K-3 is as good as some of the eulogies so far suggest, but I am starting to find the uncritical nature of some of the comments about the camera rather trying, based, as they often are, on small images that are the result of clearly very capable, but nevertheless unknown editing workflow.

Very good set of images I'm trying to work out what the Swan is stood on at first I thought it was coming in to land.
The nuthatch is a little too tight a crop for my liking but apart from that the focus, exposure and compositions are all spot on.
I can't wait to give my K3 a try out for wildlife in decent light from what I've found so far I think the improvement in AF will be a great help.

Gob smacking!
I know you have top kit, Alan, but what is more self evident is that you always give us stunning photography, really enjoyable.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for feedback everyone.
Chris, the Bluey and Woody only made this set because of the novelty of the symmetrical poses of the blue tit and the woodpecker. WB isn't quite right on it either.
Steve, the swan is on a floating island.
Alistair, the treecreeper was at ISO 1600

Great work Alan.
There's a lot of people here watching carefully, trying to decide whether to buy a K3 or not. No pressure on you then mate!
Best regards
