K30 spare battery

I am looking for spare battery recommendations for the K30,seen this but not sure,

I would value forum members experience of using third party batteries and any issues encountered.

I have a couple in my bag, there useful as a backup. They don't last as long as originals but there not far off. They hold there charge well enough to leave them in the bag and not have to worry they have self discharged, you get what you pay for though.
My money goes to the,Hama batteries from SRS, and yes they ARE worth the extra few quid Mate.

I have a Hama battery, the one that came from SRS as a spare as part of the offer. I took around 300 photos over three days in Budapest recently at very low temperatures which is supposed to decrease battery life and didn't need to change the battery at all, so pretty impressive. Still had around a quarter charge on my return.

You could consider getting a D-BH109 AA BATTERY HOLDER (clone) off any number of Far East suppliers on Ebay. They hold 4xAA batteries which last twice as long as the standard battery.

I bought one a couple of weeks back - looks OK, works fine - only about £7 delivered.

I bought one of these cheap AA adapters for my K-r and have never had a problem with it .

It was this one.

Delivery was amazingly quick - maybe a couple of weeks.

I've got 2 Pentax badged batteries and 4 generic badged batteries. all work as well as each other. I'd never waste money on buying a Pentax battery

Lucky you. I've bought 2 generics and they last half the time of the Pentax one. They also charge up in half the time. They are 7 grams lighter than the Pentax one. One was from ebay, one from Amazon UK. They're still useful though at the very cheap price.

when I bought a used K10 from SRS, it came with a (used) aftermarket battery that lasted for less than 50 shots on a full charge, despite being rated to a similar capacity. I went back and they replaced it with a genuine battery (also used) that seemed to last forever.

I also had a new aftermarket spare battery with my K-30. It seemed to last about 80% as long as the original, which is what I would have expected as it was rated to about 80& of the capacity. So that was absolutely fine.

So based on my sample size of 1 old and 1 new, my totally scientific conclusion is that all aftermarket batteries are just as good as genuine when they're new but when they get old they're useless.

I also had several spare generic batteries for my K10D and K20D when I ahd them. they also worked as good as the pentax batteries.

Maybe I have just been lucky.

I just noticed that the photo in the OP's post the battery has the same label as one of my low measured capacity cheap batteries.

I've just ordered the AA battery adapter for my K30 from the Far East on E-bay. I bought a Trust IR remote for £1.99 this way and it is just brilliant. I don't use it enough to pay the full price for a pentax one.

I much prefer AA batteries. My Kx & *ist took them and my flash also uses AAs. One charger to take on holiday and in an emergency you can always put some standard bateries in.
