While on hols I had the red LED flashing on the front of the K30. The camera would shut down with data still on the screen but would not accept any input from me. Each time this happened I turned off then on and all was ok for a while. I reset everything back to default settings and all has been well with it since. I wonder if anyone else had this experience.

Also I can`t find a way back to "Reset to factory settings." Anyone know if this is possible please, just in casr it happens again.

Don't know but suggest:

1. Try a different memory card.

2. Make sure on latest firmware (1.04)

3. Check the battery contacts.

4. If using AA rechargeables, try some different ones or the Lithium Ion one that came with the camera.

I can't find a published default setting either despite a section in the manual headed 'Default Setting'!

If all else fails, pop it back to wherever it came from.

You were probably in remote control mode, waiting for the remote to be pressed. It can happen sometimes when you try to move the AF point left or right when not in the right shooting mode.

Thanks for the suggestions both of you. I can`t fathom it either. JAK, tried all of the things you said. It`s with the genuine Pentax lithium battery plus I tried the spare Hama one too. Now Iv`e reset to default settings it`s been fine. Sbrads, I leave this camera on spot focus. Just one of those idiosyncrasies I guess.
