Thanks for confirming that.
So (please correct me in I'm wrong), if I take an image using live view and the same image through the viewfinder and normal AF I should have two imaes that I can directly compare knowing that the image taken with live view should be as near to infocus as you can get within the tolerances of the camera/lens combination.
Thanks for confirming that.

LBA is good for you, a Lens a day helps you work, rest and play.

But if your eyes are dodgy don't do it exactly that way. Don't compare the images but instead focus with one method and then the other. If AF fine adjustment is correct the lens will mechanically focus to the same spot (this is easiest if the lens actually has a focusing scale, if not you can make your own with paper tape stuck to it). Ideally, because the focus is the same, the lens won't even attempt to refocus at all when switching focus modes but ...

Does dialling in lens AF fine adjustment affect both CDAF (on sensor) and PDAF (viewfinder) auto focus?
When using contrast detect the focus is absolute (ie off the sensor) and does not need correction.
A pity that Pentax can't produce some kind of LV auto adjust for lenses...
