You can on the K20D - just go into Menu->Rec Mode->RAW Button and set the RAW and RAW+ formats to change to JPG only when the RAW button is pressed...
BTW, when one uses "quote this post" the backslashes reappear in the edit box...

Of course you can set the RAW button to change any of the three formats to any of the three available formats which means 3 of the 9 combinations are pointless, ie jpg -> jpg, RAW -> RAW and RAW+ -> RAW+, but that's just stupidity and laziness on the part of the developers.
We're all grownups so if we set RAW to change to RAW by pressing the RAW button then it's our own fault
