K20D file numbers jumped

A recent thread by Clarky made me look at my file numbers to see how many shots I'd taken with the K20D.

I first set the image file to record as K20**** so obviously my first shots were K200001 etc, I got this up to around K200377 then the filenames jumped to K206377 and have continued from that.

The SCHC card has not been changed

Whats gone wrong (or what have I done) and how do I check the actual frame count on the camera.

Not for me Terry

I presume this will help me find the actual frame numbers but surely it cant tell me why my my K20D has suddenly jumped 6000 digits

Strange, works for me .. I can download fine from there.
It will only tell you the number of shots though .. not why you have jumped.

It may have been a file system change like a new folder or something similar that has changed, causing the camera to skip to the next 'available' number it thinks it has.
For the love of all things photogenic!

Pentax K20D | Pentax SMC II DA ALII 18 - 55 | Sigma 400mm AF f5.6 | Fisheye wanted for play time!

Centon K100 | Centon 50 / 1.7 | Centon 70 - 210 /4.0 - 5.6 (for my now retired film SLR).

No it wont tell you why it's jumped, But

Yes it will, Total clicks, Total deleted, Temp of camera, then you can see if your counter matches at least.

OK thanks guys, I'll keep trying the link, maybe a glitch with my ISP

As for the jumped numbers, there is no way I have shot 6000+ frames, in fact I would be surprised if I'd shot 500 yet as I've not been able to play with it as often as I'd have liked, plus the K10D is still in use with the 50-135 attached

I might just reset the file numbers to default and start again and see what happens.
