K200D clunking noise

Hello all,

I recently acquired a K200 as my first digital SLR camera. When I move it about, ie. turn it on its side for a portrait shot, it makes a heavy clunking noise as if a heavy object is shifting about inside the camera. I would just like to know if this is normal behaviour. Also should it be physically possible to detect (through sound or touch) the sensor vibrating on start up, as I want to check that is working whilst the camera is still under guarantee.

I'm not sure about the K200, but I use a K10d, which makes a light clunk (not heavy, but noticeable) when I rotate it for a portrait format shot - I think this is the internal sensor which lets the camera know that the camera is being used in portrait format, so I guess your K200 has the same (or similar) internal system. As far as the dust removal/sensor vibration function... my camera has a tools tab in the menu (press 'menu', then tab right to the third tab with a spanner logo), and scrolling down to 'dust removal' gives me the option (by pressing right on the 4 way controller) of either vibrating the sensor there and then, or setting it to operate whenever the camera starts up. I imagine the K200 is probably similar in this respect as well (?). Hope that helps...?

It probably is more of a light than a heavy clunk, I was just getting paranoid in case I bought a dud ! Got the sensor vibrating working too; I've just got to get used to looking through the menu system as it seems it is all there.

Oh yes it's all in the menus!

It took me weeks to get my K200d working as I wanted, well worth it though!
