When i bought mine in april, LCE IN bATH told me it was now discontinued.
However I was in the same store yesterday and the salesman told me it was current, I did wonder why they were selling grips for £44. 99. hmm of course I had to buy one

There are some on Amazon, but you could get a GX-20 for the same money and a K20D for not much more!

The ones on Amazon are not necessarily genuine UK sourced and have the standard 1 year warranty - not teh 2 years SRS, Park and a few others are able to offer. Cheapest would be about £370 with shipping and memory &c
The one purchased will be around £310 and has a THREE year warranty.
Tell me where I can get a K20D for not much more than that?

I wasn't implying that you could get a K20d for around £300. I was pointing out that many are on sale for around £480, in which case you would be better getting the GX-20!

For what this will be doing over the next month - the K200D is probably ideal. I will expect to see it is a pretty dilapidated/battered state when he returns.
We did think of the K20D and DA* lenses for full sealing but that option was too expensive.
Yes, I know that there will be a weak point with an unsealed lens and the lens to camera junction, but at least the electronics will be pretty well sealed.

I was wondering about this the other day, I did read somewhere that all new goods should now come with a 2 year warranty as standard .. something to do with a new EU directive.

Ah well Pentax Netherlands is still listing the *ist-DL, K100D, K110D, K100D Super and K10D as being "current"...
The only camera's which are listed as "archived" are the *ist-D and *ist-DS.
But then again, I wasn't expecting anything else from De Beukelaer.

Argos - not within 100 miles of where he lives! and no home delivery.
The US option at £310 is overall about £100 cheaper than Argos too.

I saw a K200D in PC World, Cambridge with 18-55 for £379 yesterday. It did appear to be their last one other than the 'demo' model on display.

Saw the same thing in the Bolton store with a "discontinued model" sign underneath it.

The K200D is "discontinued" or we are told. Is it or is it not?
It is still shown as current on the UK website and on the Pentax Japan website where they have a "discontinued section" it is shown as current.
It is available to purchase in US, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, and others.
Locating a genuine UK sourced one has been impossible - no one will confirm it so we have taken an alternative route.
The friend needed it for this week, we have arranged for one to be purchased in New York - $520 including 18-55 lens and two Sandisk 4GB cards and taken to Barbados where he will be spending a couple of days before going to Guyana for three weeks.
