My granddaughter has a K200D and the top LCD shows 999 permanently where mine, and my K20, show the set ISO value, exp.compensation or number of shots left on the card. The camera behaves normally in every other respect. Anyone know the reason for the 999, or how to get rid of it?

Probably it is indicating the number of images left to be taken on the card. If it's a large card that will accept more than 999 images, then 999 is the most the display can show.

Thanks, John,
It is indicating number of shots left on the card. What I can't understand is why it's there permanently. On my K20 & K200 it only shows the number of shots remaining when I switch the camera off. At other times it shows the set ISO or amount of compensation

Back to the manual I think, unless someone else who owns the camera knows the answer?
Best regards, John

On the k20 it's menu C no 31 display sensitivity if that's switched to off you get the number of images/ on displays sensitivity.

Thanks, Charlotte, Cracked it! Changed the Custom menu (19 in the K200d)
to option 2.
