K10d with stuck autofocus & lens lock

I've been a long term Pentax enthusiast; an MX being my mainstay for 20 years of mainly railway photography. Apart from a clean, it never needed anything (& was second hand when I bought it!).
I changed to a K10D 3 years ago & it's been great. However, from recently the lens lock doesn't work, nor the apparently connected body screwdrive autofocus peg. Neither of them 'pop' out but remain in their respective holes.
The camera is nearing 20,000 shots, but I haven't changed the lens this number of times!
Has anyone experienced this or had such a fault repaired? Is it worth getting it fixed seeing the camera's done so many frames?

well, 20.000 frames hardly got your camera warmed up. The shutter is supposed to last at least 100.000 actuations. At least get a quote from the service, to see if it's worth repairing.

An odd one I know, but check the screws holding the lens mount on haven't worked loose. It occurs to me that if the metal ring were to shift slightly then it would jam both those parts. I know I had that problem with an MV I was trying to fix the metering on.

This is one of those seemingly innocent areas of DIY where there's more to cameras than meets the eye. Those screws that hold the mount have a certain tension and the mount can be adjusted.

I would always leave it to those who have the proper information and the proper tools.
Best regards, John

Thanks for your advice. I have removed the ring, but the screwdrive & locking peg still do not move forwards.

I've now contacted a Pentax repair firm who quote a minimum of £85 + VAT + carriage. Much cheaper than buying a new one or refurb I suppose & if 20,000 clicks is relatively low, then presumably worth doing as I do like the camera.

Request them to write down what exactly was the cause of the malfunction.
If you can prove that it was not your fault but that it was a factory defect you should be able to claim back the repair cost but it might be hard to prove though
