K10D not working after firmware upgrade

Hi,

I've just upgraded my K10D from its original firmware 1.00 to newest 1.30.
Upgrade was successful (got the "complete" message on screen) and did off/on.

Now the K10D is no longer working. When powering on, battery indicator quickly blinks (full charge) and nothing else happens (like if I had turned it off : no focus, no picture, no button working at all, no display, nothing). Battery is fully charged of course.

The only thing I can do is display firmware version (menu during power on), indicating 1.30 and then shutdown again.

Anyone can help ?

Thanks !

Have you taken out the SD card, and deleted the firmware file off the card?

Yes. I removed the card and deleted the firmware from it : unfortunately no change.

Just in case someone had the issue, here is the (stupid) solution :
Since I was inserting/removing the card many times I did not take care to lock the card door after firmware update. When the card door is not locked this is the normal behavior apparently (I never noticed that before...)

he, he, was thinking along that line, but wasn't going to insult anyone by suggestion the "obvious".
Oddly it has caught me as well a few times as well... always thinking to myself that I sure hope nothing happens to break the door or switch, the whole camera would be useless!
It would be nice to be given a message 'door is a jar' or something. Even a can, a bottle, anything to let one know the door is open.

Glad ya found the answer and that it wasn't a need to send in for repair.

After the last upgrade on my K110 I removed the card and formated it for use.

It was only two days later, and some miles from home that I found I hadn't replaced it in the camera.

So many lost shots because the camera didn't tell me it had no card!

Come on Pentax, a little icon to let us know the card is missing/ door is open would make life easier for us forgetfull users.
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

Huh?
My *ist-D, K10D and K20D all show "No Card" when you turn on the camera

Do you perhaps mean you didn't put the card back AND you didn't try turning on the camera until you went away??
(In which case there's nothing anyone can reasonably do - if the camera is not powered up it can't tell you!!!)

Try with card in, door open...
