K10D ISO Auto setting

Hi All,

Just sat here wondering if I'm being a little slow or missing something completely. Just been trying to take some shots of my Fuji Panoramic that's about to go up for sale on evilbay Using available light and a tripod I wanted to lock the ISO at 100 for max image quality as I would for any tripod or studio work. The camera is set in Av mode as that's the way I like it and am used to it. I know if I used the Sv mode I can keep the ISO at 100 whilst the camera takes care of the rest but really I want to ignore the option to change ISO and keep it fixed at one speed just like you do with film.

Using the fn button to access the ISO settings, I can adjust the ISO range with the front and rear e-dials. For some reason I can't get the range to go any lower than 100-140 when I really don't want a range I just want ISO 100 and nothing else. How do you change the ISO off of AUTO setting? I've flicked thru the manual, pg 140 talks about AUTO being the default setting but it doesn't seem to tell me how to change off AUTO and directs me back to page 36 the Fn button menu which promptly directs me back to page 140.................. I've been thru the menu and can't find anything to help me and none of the Custom funcs seem to apply to this?

Surely there must be a way of just getting ISO 100 as with the light being low where I've set up my mini studio it keeps selecting ISO140 for every shot??? If I'm on a tripod and want ISO100 why won't it let me pick what I want?

I just want ISO100 - help me guys, I think I'm going nuts

Cheers in advance!

Will

PS - did I say that I just wanted ISO100

Will,
Just:
* Press the "Fn" button
* Press the Right arrow (ISO)
* Press to Down/Up arrow to scroll through forced ISO settings

If you keep pressing the Up/Down it will eventually say "Auto" - where you can set the Min/Max ISO ratings with the two wheels.

I think (don't have the K10D with me at the mo') you can do a similar thing with the OK button. OK+Green should flick to Auto, and OK+wheel should lock it at a manual ISO.

Ah ha - how right you are...

Yup... that's it, although the manual is about as clear as mud!
I've just been using the e-dials to change ISO and all that does is change the range in AUTO. Using the up/down on the 4 way pad does indeed scroll thru the various fixed ISO settings and AUTO.

Plus as you've said I can get direct ISO access via the OK button and scroll via the front e-dial.

SUPERB - issue fixed but I still think I was going slightly nuts

Cheers Matt!!!
