K10d image problem HELP!?

Right, so I'm suing my new Pentax K10D and a B+W ND1000. Occasionally I get these massive streaks down my images. I haven't got a clue why. They don't seem to appear without the filter. Is it the fault of the camera or the filter? It's happened twice now, but it doesn't happen all the time.

Here's some examples:

I'm grateful for any help. I need this sorted out.

Is the filter uncoated? On the first one it looks like some kind of purple flare caused by reflections. The second I'm not too sure about though. It looks to good to be flare, can you see any defects on the filter?

To be honest I don't know if it's coated or not.
It's a "B+W 52mm 110 ND 3,0 - 10 BL 1000x"
Problem is, I was shooting today with a mate who has the same filter with a larger thread but he had no such problem.
No visible defects on the filter.

What exposure length are these images? The lines look too regular to be flare.

Reminds me of the one time I tried using multiple exposures instead of one long exposure with my *istD. The resultant image had a strange colour cast down one side, which wasn't evident when doing the same exposure in one go.

don't sue your pentax.

what firmware is your k10? some people experienced streaks with long exposures on the version 1.0 firmware.

looking through the viewfinder, it would be tough to spot a moderate amount of lens flare, with a nd filter like that...try shading the lens?

give more meta info on the images, might also help.

your friend may have the same filter, but not the same lens...what lens?
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

ok meta data:

first shot
f9 38s ISO 100

second
f16 64s ISO 100

I have version 1.00 firmware.

I tried both a lens hood and a polarizer and the flare didn't diminish.

My mate was shooting with a Canon 350d and the 18-55(?) kit lens.

Cheers guys

Just found this:

http://www.pentaximaging.com/customer_care/show_firmware?firmId=8793673

says version 1.10 onwards fixed the vertical stripe problem.

Looks like I know what I need to do...

that and using something bigger (peice of cardboard etc to shade the lens)....I find the lens hoods are barely useful.....in fact I rarely ever use them.....
also if you do a search..some clever individual discovered a trick using the multiexposure setting to get a nd effect without using the nd filter....might befun to try that both with and without the nd filter......

given the exposure time, I'm 90% sure that big purply splodge on the second shot is heat bloom from the cameras internals. I get it all the time in astro photography. Either hit the in camera noise reduction (will double the length of time taken for a shot) or take a dark frame of the same exposure time manually and subtract it in software using either UFRAW or some other RAW converter which allows dark frame subtraction.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help
