Can anyone explain precisely the difference in operation between the M and C modes with this camera/flashgun? . I understand that S stands for Slave and I this mean that someting has to obey the command given by something/someone else, but with M & C I am unsure which end should operate in which mode. I bought the AF360 to use with the DS and used it very little but I have have now traded up to the K10D.

Try the manual:

Basically, M is for master. This is where you have a gun on the camera which you want to do two things:

1 Flash
2 Control a second gun (which will be set to S for slave)

C is for control. This is where you want the gun on the camera simply to control the second gun, but not to flash itself. It will emit a burst of flashes to trigger the second gun, but will not itself fire when the shutter is open.

You will need to update your cameras firmware to make use of the wireless capabilities of your flash.

As for how it works, George said it all.

Many thanks George for reply - precise and straight to the point. I did think that this was the case but was unsure whether the camera inbuilt flash would fire if set to C control. Also for the link, I will check it out to see if there are any additions not in my manual.
Also thanks to Manesty for reply, I had in fact upgraded the firmware to 1.10 on the day it was released.
