K10D & AF360FGZ Questions

I'm a little confused as I don't have contrast control under my Fn menu - just flash compensation...

I think it's safe to say I have nothing else to offer - mine works fine and the only other thing I can think of is after you change the flash to HSS you need to half press the shutter button; this makes the camera and flash talk to each other and presumably lets the camera know that speeds faster than 1/180 can be selected.

If this doesn't work then I'm all out of ideas I'm afraid!

no problem. So do you use HS flash very often?

Nope, never if I'm honest about it!

I knew I had the facility to do HSS and I had a little play to see that it worked when I bought the 360, but I hadn't touched it since. I only tend to use the 360 off-camera in manual mode (triggered by the pop-up) so I hardly make the most of everything it has to offer me...

Sorry yours doesn't want to play ball - I'm very pleased with my K10/360 combo but it really does look like yours is a dud.

. . . and since it is over 12 months old, no sense fighting over warranty . . .
You know the part of the guarantee that states "This does not affect your statutory rights"? Well, if you live in, and purchased your flash in Europe, your statutory right . . . is 2 years warranty (despite the 12 months often quoted elsewhere in the guarantee). If it's less than 2 years old, get it fixed for free.

Out of interest. I tried my AF360 on my K10D and istD bodies. I can set HSS mode on the flash and as soon as the shutter speed goes above 1/125th (istD) or 1/180th (K10D) The HS icon illuminates on the flash. Further, I can set any shutter speed that the camera is capable of.

Hope that helps.
