So it's the K100D that's just a loss leader then?

No its because Jessops staff are like the Borg they do exactly the same as each other and are drilled to sell canon and nikon

Now they have excess stock of this model because they have probably talked newbies into buying C or N cameras

Serves them right I hope they lose buisness

at a 2.18 exchange rate, that's C$654.00.....

The regular price (at a Canadian .com store is C$700.00...)

See here : http://www.cameracanada.com/eNet-cart/product.asp?pid=19018

Assuming the regional distributors pay the same price from Pentax, it doesn't look like Jessop's is taking too much of a loss on this particular "loss leader"

BUT, I don't know a lot about regional pricing... It may be that they're just more expensive normally 'over there'...

The Jessops group is in financial difficulties...

probably something to do with the number of towns in which there are multiple Jessops stores within a few hundred yards of one another. I really can't see how having two stores in the centre of Cambridge can be helpful and the rent must be a fortune.

I beg to differ John, When I was looking for a DSLR I went to 3 different Jessops. One in Birmingham, Cannock and my home town Walsall and each time I mentioned Pentax the staff said no go for a Nikon or Canon. they are better quality cameras.

I nearly brought a D80 nikon infact I did buy it but exchanged it after a week. It was after handling the K10D I could not get this camera out of my head how much I liked it so I scoured the internet and this forum before making my decision to exchange.

Maybe not all staff are the same but that was my experience. Plus look at the lenses sold in Jessops It is very hard to get Pentax

I have been into 5 different Jessops stores, two in Plymouth and 3 in Leeds to look at the K10D and K100D. Each time the sales people said I'd be better off with a Nikon as the image quality was so superior and all the features in the Pentax cameras were gimmicks. They pointed me to the D80 which has the same sensor and kept going on and on...

There was also this guy who came to collect a lens and said he knew what he was talking about because he "shot squirrels and shit".

All in all it was a mighty irritating experience because:

I already knew what I wanted to look at.

I knew the facts beforehand.

Shame the Jacobs shop in Leeds closed down as they were always very helpful and open minded.

Are you serious? Can if you want, but they're not the most thrilling of subjects...
