K10 shutter actuations have reset

Hi all would just like to pick you brains a bit.

I was coming up on 10,000 shutter actuations on my k10.I think i must have passed 10,000 over the weekend and now the camera has started from zero again.

I now have a shutter count of 285 which is around the amount i've taken over the weekend. The camera is working great i just thought it was a bit weird.I hope someone can put me right

All replies welcome

That's normal and is only the image number that resets to 0 after 99999. If you check an image in Photome your shutter count should appear correct there.

Hi peter i downloaded photome just to have a look but it still says my image is IMGP0284.PEF .

If the camera is not harmed in any way then i'm not that bothered i just thought it was weird that it reached 10,000 and then reset.

Thanks for your help Peter

That is just the filename. Somewhere in the metadata it records the actuations.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

There are only that number of digits in that particular field, so it can't do anything else.

To correct the title of the thread - it hasn't "reset", it has "wrapped round"!
(Much like a car odometer would do)

If you look at the metadata information in Photome, not just the file/image name there is a field titled Shutter count somewhere in the manufacturers info. That will give the true shutter count.

Go to the "MANUFACTURERS NOTES" tab and then scroll down where the SHUTTER COUNT subtitle is on the left side, you will see the real shutter count on the next column
