What the hell category is that?

After Beginner, Intermediate Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Professional Beginner.

Then Entry Level Pro, then Beginner Pro, then Intermediate Pro, then Advanced Pro, then Professional Pro, then World Class Pro.

Then what?

Come on guys, it's almost as bad as music with metal, gothic metal, extreme gothic metal, death metal, black metal, gothic rock, and so on...

I am happy to see the review as positive as it is, and I look forward to the shootout.

Comes just before "semi-pro"

I haven't seen any evidence of the magenta casts they mention in any of the K10D sample pictures I've seen so far.

Aw I'm itching to get hold of one soo baad! No news from Chris at SRS so far this week.

The hole in my pocket is getting bigger everyday, have had to stop browsing eKbay or it will all be gone by the time Pentax decide to give Chris (and us) a very merry xmas.

Forget categories. I used a couple of MX bodies with winders for a large chunk of my career, where my job was to make photographs.

I've used the D for digital files, and before that I even did jobs with an Oly E-20! Nobody complained.

Now I use the K10D, and I'm officially retiring the Mamaiya RB67, since the K10D will do all those jobs I thought I needed film for.

Not every pro goes out and buys an $8000 camera. Some of us make do with equipment that fits the job at hand. If someone needs a wall size print, I've got the TOYO (4x5) and a couple of great lenses for it. They can just wait for it to be processes and scanned!

I just had a look at their review of the Canon 400D (Rebel XTi) and was interested to see that according to their measurements, the K10D has less noise than the Canon, at all ISOs.

And, at 1600 ISO, the noise is less than the D80, which according to PopPhoto is the benchmark camera for good noise handling. At other ISOs it was the same (100 and 200), or slightly higher (400) - 800 is the anomally, as the D80 has very aggresive noise reduction at this point apparently.

From what I can see, the frame rate of the Pentax is higher than either the Canon or Nikon, with unlimited jpegs as opposed to limited numbers for the C&N. I don't know how customisable the C&N are, but obviously there are all the choices with the K10D about what command dial does what in the different exposure modes (of course, you only get one wheel with the Canon too). In camera RAW processing, did I mention that? Oh, and DNGs.
