Well i am now the proud owner of a K10 and can't wait to put it through its paces.
Quite a few more buttons than the K100 i just have to work out what everything does

I didnt get a manual with it as it was lost by its former owner but it should'nt take too long to work it all out. And i will print a manual off at work next week

I think i got a pretty good deal its only taken 200 pics, almost new.
I picked up another kit lens 18-55 and a sigma 100-300.
I am not that impressed with the fiddely little release levers on the card door and battery compartment.

I need a backup battery and e-bay have some widely varying prices. Which are good and which are best avoided :

I bought this one for 9.90 and it's great. Picstop have failed to mention it's for the K10d, but if you check the model on other sites, it says so.

Or 10,200, or 20,200, or 90,200. After 10,000 pics it starts again at 0.

But it's good for 100,000 apparently.

G

PS: I have to admit that while I KNOW the *ist D recycles after 10,000, it is possible that the K10D goes to 100,000.

So it might have done 100,200 pics.

Thanks rtunstal but I fear the postage to Australia may make it non viable. but i will look into it.
I noticed it is only 1450mAh compared to 1650mAh with the original would this not shorten its charge capacity :

I haven't even opened the manual for my K10D so I'm not sure you'll need it.

You are right niblue i have pretty much worked it out after a couple of hours of playing with it. But the manual would still be handy just in case

Didn't realise you were Aus based. Of course it's a 10% less capacity but you could always buy 4 of them for the cost of the Pentax one! I know there are larger capacity ones out there but the Inov8 ones are excellent for the money.

Given that the absolute shutter count is embedded in the Makernotes section of the EXIF tag in every image the camera produces it's not at all difficult to see how many shutter actuations the particular camera has done.

Sadly, most image software doesn't display Makernotes.

I do have a query with it though. How do you get it too remain shooting Raw without having to press the button each time The only menu reference i could find allows it to remain shooting raw but it also duplicates each shot with a jpeg Silly setting if you ask me

Press menu then scroll down to file format - the options for it are Raw, JPG and Raw+
