K10 D problem. Please help!

I received my nice new K10 off ebay yesterday and started to play around with it, all is well but I've noticed a few problems. I'm not sure if this is something I'm doing or if I have a dud. Any advice much appreciated:

The first problem I have is with the instant review. No matter what time I set it to (1,3 or 5s) the image is displayed for what seems like .5 seconds then vanishes, the same happens with the digital preview.

The second problem I've noticed is with zooming on picture playback. I click the e-dial zoom wheel one point to the right and zoom changes to 1.2X then there is a brief pause and zoom rapidly continues all the way to 20X without me touching a thing! It is then impossible to zoom back out as the zoom in seems to fight the zoom out.

Has anyone else had these problems? I need to know if I'm just being dumb before I send it back.

Appreciate any help!

Doesn't sound right to me on either count, sadly

Maybe try upgrading firmware from Pentax web-site, and hope that it is a 'glitch' in the loaded software etc rather than a hardware fault.

Andy

Edit: perhps ring Pentax first and ask would it be ok to try the firmware update and if that doesn't work to then get the camera changed.

Sounds to me like the rear e-dial is faulty, or at least 'sticky' - hence the zooming in on playback - and also the previews disappearing quickly (the camera gets an input from the 'user' and closes the preview?).

First thing I would try would be to wiz the dial backwards and forwards a few times, just to make sure there's not a little bit of dirt in there that's making it do funny stuff.

That might work, but then if it does, there's always the possibility that it might return at any time...

thanks for the replies. Both problems just seemed to have vanished now, I think I'll ring them on the off chance. I'm always a bit paranoid with new gadgets. Thanks once again.
