If it was a new for old policy - then as the K10D was, in its day, the top of the line model, that should point to a K3 replacement!
hang on a mo top of the range they didnt have the 645z then so dose that count would be nice though
Hadn't thought of the 645Z However a lens to go with it...

I came from a K100d to a K30 and I've noticed so many little improvements that it's hard to just say it's better for just this reason or that. Given the run out type pricing that seems to be happening on the K-50 (well in the US at least) I'd be tempted to take a closer look.

Yes the shutter is noisy, but all mechanical shutters make some noise, and it's not normally an issue unless you're shooting in wedding, church, stage show type situations.

I don't mind the grip now but appreciate that others might find it a bit jarring. With these models you're basically getting a quality sensor for little price, with the differences mainly coming from a lack of dedicated physical buttons for the likes of focus mode type etc. The unit is capable of all the same settings, it just doesn't have a physical button for it.

For me personally, having actually needed to use it, buying new with a warranty is pretty important now.

In the end though, if you're talking benefits they'd be along the lines of better low light ability (the K-30 essentially has the K-5 sensor) and better autofocus. If you use flashes, or shoot mostly in the daylight then these may not be of much benefit.

From there you're talking niceties, such as a better rear screen, (presumably faster menus/image review etc - well from the K-100d at least), focus peaking, faster burst shooting etc.
