K10 v K7

It is probably my lack of knowledge, but would there be any reason why, when using old manual lenses, the images from my old k10 appear better than those from the k7. The k10 ones appear that bit sharper with better colour rendition.

Different sensor ... the K10D sensor was probably the best for IQ I have had on a Pentax camera. As I have said before the K10D gave what I would describe as a glossy print look to photos while the K-7 gave more of a matt look.

I do miss the K10D output but the better ISO performance/af/dynamic range etc etc makes up for it somewhat.

I completely agree with Mike-P on the K10D. Its CCD sensor produced beautiful images at ISO 100, but its days were numbered when sensitivity joined Megapixels as the marketing men's measure of image quality.

Not sure that would explain why your K10 is sharper than your K7 when focussing manually though. Maybe your K7 focus screen is slightly out and would benefit from shimming?

I found that after I stopped using the K10D pictures from following cameras needed processing differently to get a similar look. They certainly needed more aggressive sharpening.
