Yes, the Maximum Sync Speed is 1/200th sec. The manual is available now and this confirms that figure.

Given it looks to be a K-3ii and K-S2 hybrid, I don't see any reason for it to be any different than usual.

People have wanted a shorter time, and it's never been clear exactly what's holding it back. It must have things to do with the shutter mechanism and tolerances. Obviously the K-1 has a completely different shutter than the aps-c models so its perhaps not unexpected that a different x-sync would now be possible. It's not a big difference, but it sure looks better on paper!

Honestly Richard, just looking through the first few pages of the manual, covering the viewfinder options, LCD displays, screen mechanism, LED lighting illuminations, custom options for those things, the new function dial ...(that's as far as I've got so far) ... It is really a rather extraordinary machine, far more, I'd suggest, than a hybrid of those two existing lessor models.

Very interestingly, it appears that we have a new custom function on the K1 ..... To set our own sync speed (user-set) when X Exposure mode is selected (as far as 1/200).

As an aside here, the customization options look to be fairly incredible. Really pleased to see Control Panel personalization, which was something I requested on one of the various wish list threads over the years (did you really listen to ME, Pentax ? ) ..... In fact, this new K1 is looking like being the total and utter customisation geek freaks dream machine!
