K-x focusing screen dimension?

i have just extracted the focusing screen of my unused me super, i intended to replace focusing screen on my kx with it.

but i dont know the dimension :

does anybody know?

and the means to cut the excess material?

I really would not advise doing this. I tried a professionally cut-down screen in my K-m and went back to a standard one shortly after. The problem for me was that the 3rd party screen was too dark, and the split prism was both massive and not quite accurate enough. Obviously the prism was sized for the larger viewfinder of a 35mm camera where it wouldn't be quite as dominant in the field of view. The ME Super screen is designed for a much larger viewfinder (which gathers more light in the first place) and will probably look as dark as the one I tried if cut and fitted to a DSLR.

You also stand little chance of cutting it down without scratching it heavily. If you really want to try a split prism screen, put this one back in the ME Super and buy one that has been pre-cut to size. I hear great reports of the Katz Eye screens, unfortunately thanks to the UK import duties (and the collection charges imposed by Parcelfarce) they'd be prohibitively expensive for me to order one from the USA.

thank you for your explanation, but the ME super is broken so it wont do anything to return it back. And the Katz Eye screen are prohibitively expensive for me too

i think im going to have a go in cutting it, still dont know the dimension though

I resized an MG screen for my k100D.
Wasn't too dark.
split ring useful.
No damage to screen in process.
Even showed the waiting world

You could measure the screen in your K-x.
better still use it as a template on your taped up ME screen.
Just need a pin prick at each corner to establish cut lines. This method ensures disc is centred

I'm about to do another one.
Only thing I would change is use scalpel to scribe the tape on screen, then with black marker. This would help the spongy edge that sanding acrylic gives.
The other thing is get reading glasses

actually i have read greyhoundman blog. and apparently my thread is a re-post
so i have to take out kx's focusing screen first and measure it? i think i will do it in the weekend

Just be aware that the screen is soft and easily scratched. I never touched it directly , used tweezers on the tab or lens tissue by the edge. The kits often have rubber finger thingies to avoid skin oil.
