Just open a new text file in Notepad.
Type in the text [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] and press Enter.
Save the file as MODSET.492.
That's it.
The Enter key places the CR/LF character in the file, so that the cursor is flashing on the beginning of the next line.
Type in the text [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] and press Enter.
Save the file as MODSET.492.
That's it.
The Enter key places the CR/LF character in the file, so that the cursor is flashing on the beginning of the next line.
Best regards
Terry

This sounds like fun. I used to program in C when I was younger and I wonder if those skills would help me do fun things here. I didn't realize you could send instructions like this to Pentax cameras. I wonder what else can be done. Axl or Terje-l, do you guys have a site you recommend that has info on the debug commands that can be used?
I want to play with my old K10!

Peter,
You're better off not using Word or such to create the file you need - use a text-based editor instead, and make sure you save it in a text-only format.
CR/LF in a text editor is the "carriage-return / line-feed" command you invoke, when you press the Enter key once.

For those who don't know what they're doing, be careful, you've spent a lot of money on a precision camera and turning it into a paperweight is one possible outcome.

With the K10D you also need to keep the battery door open the first time you start up, maybe you need to do the same with the K-X?

This is just what I said two posts above

so I got K-x for my wife, it's not bad camera and the high ISO is really nice, but I'll be still sticking with my K10D and see what will come next.
Anyway, I'm trying to get into debug on K-x so I can adjust for my ltds and I'm having some trouble.
I found these instructions:
How to get into DEBUG mode for K-x, firmware 1.0:
1) create file MODSET.492 with
[OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]
- line must end with CR/LF (endline char in windows)
2) turn on the camera while holding +/- (Av) button
3) congratulations, you are in debug menu

but doesn't work. So I have Q:
what is CR/LF (endline char in WWin) ?????
thanks for any help.
