K-X, dust on sensor - help?

After another failed attempt with a blower, frustration got the better of me; 2 minutes and a dry cotton bud later - problem solved.

I will however invest in the Eclipse fluid and perhaps an Arctic Butterfly as I'd rather not resort to such brutal methods in the future.

I still have dust in the viewfinder but I can live with this.

Hi Steve,
Just be aware that you may find two different Eclipse solutions, one for CCD sensors and another for CMOS. The latest solution is said to be suitable for both types of sensors, so you may be OK. But it never hurts to check.

I have found this kit very useful - would never touch the sensor with a dry cloth. The fluid is important to avoid scratches.

I use the butterfly on that as well but some say it's not a good idea.

I was pleased to find this topic as I noticed dust had appeared when I looked through the viewfinder.
My conclusion after reading the above is that I have dust on the sensor probably acquired when changing lenses. I've got away with blipping out dust marks with software up to now.

Using the dust shaker in the camera hasn't shifted it, so I'll have a go at the other methods suggested above.

If you see the dust when you look through the viewfinder, it's in the viewfinder rather than on the sensor.

I have a ist DS with dust on the sensor cannot seem to get rid. I have wiped the sensor with a damp cotton bud, not gone away. Do the sensors DE-Grade in Time Or do I keep on swabing till i clean it

There are marks that appear on the images, but since using the dust shaker, some have disappeared.
I'll have a look at the Eclipse fluid and an Arctic Butterfly as I'm reluctant to mess about with cotton buds, wet or dry on the sensor.

Indeed, the cotton bud will actually deposit lots more dust, small fibres will fall off!



Arctic Butterfly for me, never had anything it cannot dislodge.

i seem to aquire dust on sensor with k7 most times it will come off using the camera system but when it sticks straight to clifton cameras wet&dry clean £45 once last year once this year. my rationale being if i muck it up no camera if they muck it up their problem

I gather it also gets in through the lens even when the lens is not removed from the camera, zooms being the obvious culprits. The WR lenses should be better I imagine.
After my *istD which got measles every month I can't get over how little dust gets into my K-7 or at least how little shows on the sensor. A quick few puffs with a Giottos Rocket occasionally has done the trick so far.
