I am a new user of a K100D. I have been given a K Mount tele lens - can I use this with my camera?

and if so is there some info. available that will point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any and all help

The lens will be useable, with some restrictions. As there is no A setting and there are no electrical contacts on the lens you will need to activate the use of aperture ring option in the Custom menu.

Then the lens can be used in manual exposure mode with stop down metering and operation. In other words, you need to stop the lens down with the stop down lever around the shutter button, or using the green button on the camera back.

If you set the camera to anything else it will operate in Av mode and shoot at open aperture all the time, but the shutter speed will vary automatically.

The subject has been covered quite extensively in this forum, so using the search facility should bring up lts of information.

Hope that helps!
Best regards, John
