Looks a very good likeness of the real thing. Wish I had known about it 3 months ago...

Was just thinking, maybe you should hang on to the grip until they bring out the dodgy K7

Is it safe enough to use one of these on my shiny new K7? I appreciate there is no weather sealing but should I be concerned about connecting a non-Pentax bit of kit to my K7?

If anybody has one of these - what do you think to it? Do you regret buying it? Should I save my pennies and get the genuine Pentax item?

I've used one on my K7 with no problems. Although it looks very similar, the actual build quality is not as good, but for about £36 I cann't complain.

I don't use a grip much, if I used/relied on one all the time I would buy the pentax one as I envisage it would be more durable, Cameraworld has it for £149 now which is a better price.

Well you could say you take the same risk everytime you connect your Tamron 18-250mm or Vivitar 28mm lens

A lot of people on the other Pentax forum use the grip on their K-7 with no adverse results.

When I had my K-7 I had official Pentax grip almost permanently attached.

I haven't seen this third party one by I can say the shear quality of build plus weather sealing would point me in the direction of the official version every time.

Just my opinion

Ditto Huw's comment (well, I would, seeing as I have his old K7 + grip )... but the weather sealing is important to me. Admittedly I could get away without the grip for 75% of the time.

It would, of course, depend on whether you have WR lenses
I've been in torrential rain with K20D+grip+50-135 and not worried at all about the camera!

If you only have non-WR lenses, then these other grips look like a reasonable idea.

At that price the word SHOULD is probably about right.

Wonder if I can tape it onto my K10D.

I got one .. It fits (nearly perfectly) quality is what you would expect for this price it works, and as I dont go out in the rain much feel That I have saved £200 which would buy another 3 if this one gets broken.. I would rather have a pentax one but not at the pentax price. I'm afraid I cannot justify the price difference.
Pentax K7 and K5 and several black tubey things with magnifying glass in that twist around and move in and out - to be honest I am not sure exactly what I have. Will list the proper names one day..

there are 17? electrical contacts on the grip. can any one tell us what they are for? I mean besides the two or three involved with sending power to the camera.
