K-7 and Insects (my first outing)

My first outing with the K-7. Things I've found:

1. The shutter is soooo quiet compared to the K20D (a nice SshSsh noise)

2. The flash exposure is improved

3. I'm seeing less noise (i.e. I don't have to do any additional noise reduction beyond the SilkyPix normal setting), this wasn't the case on the K20D

4. I'm happy

Apologies for the subject matter, but it's what I enjoy doing.

K-7, IS0200, DR, SR, f/16, 1/180, AF160FC, monopod. RAW, processed in Silkypix and PSP:

I really like your fourth picture, with the nice blurred background further emphasizing the butterfly. If I had taken something like this it would be on my desktop wallpaper for quite some time I think

I think, reading above the first photo, that he's using the AF160FC ring flash Clarky.
Cheers, HG

Very nice, I'm also an avid macrophotographer but I recently dropped my K10d and it broke. Luckily it is insured so I'm planning of upgrading to the K-7 now.

Many thanks for the comments. These probably don't show off the camera in any particular way, but I wanted to assure myself that it was at least as good as the K20D, which I certainly think it is. Just need to try it on the 500mm monster

Interesting comment. Are you shooting in DNG? Silkypix now has the PRO RC Beta version which will do K7 PEF's if you're interested. I am trialling it and it looks good.

So am I.

Excellent shots! I'd hate to get bitten by the first beetle!

Thank Lance. Yes, I am shooting DNG at present and SilkyPix v3 is handling them just fine. I'm not sure whether I'll go back to PEF now that the DNG files are compressed in the K-7.
