K-5 out of stock?

I was trying to purchase a K-5 yesterday. And I found it was out of stock everywhere, even SRS. Cameraworld has 2 in stock but I found they all had sensor issues. After a whole day searching, I bought a K-5 in Jessops but then I found it was not a new one with 11 activations. Does that mean Pentax recalled the K-5 in market to deal with the sensor issue?

Liang

11 activations is normal for a new camera- especially one which has had it's sensor checked.

The K-5 is proving to be an incredibly popular camera and Pentax are working hard to meet demand. The sensor issue affected availability a bit but not much I think.

I've seen a statement from Pentax somewhere that camera's are supplied with 0 shots taken and it can't be reset. Some dealers are probably testing for sensor marks. I would throw it in the bin if it had 11 activations on it and buy another

So did my first one, but the replacement had been checked - by Pentax and SRS so had a few on the counter by the time it got here.

One of these days Mike you'll get another one. At least your other one has been accounted for and declared unfit.

Hopefully by the time I can afford a K5 the stock problems and stain issue would have gone completely.

I've never seen a new camera with 0 shutter actuations.
