That is the exact recipe they should follow- an incremental improvement on an already very competent product. I would certainly be interested if I were in the market for a 2nd body (the K5 I have would be the second one though) then just half a dozen new lenses to match up but lenses that are also appealing to those with other Pentax bodies. expect a k5 with a new sensor, dual core processor capable of higher burst rates, 4k video, and faster af.
I do fear that all the talk of Full Frame or EVIL whilst exciting for exisiting Pentaxians is fraught with financial risk for the company.

Well
I will be the brave one, and show my ignorance.
What the "HELL" is EVIL, not every body knows MIK5 secret code,

Sorry Moriarty, not trying to be exclusive.
It is Electronic Viewfinder Interchangable Lens. Exmaples would be the Sony Alpha 77 and The Panasonic GH2 similar to DSLR but the viewfinder is electronic not optical making the whole thing potentially smaller and less expensive (although I'm really not sure about the latter TBH)

An outdated early abbreviation for what have become known at CSC (Compact System Cameras) - no manufacturer would be happy to sell EVIL cameras.....

Although a lot of CSC cameras have no viewfinder at all unless you count the optional clip on versions.

Nor would I call it a CSC. It's a DSLR, having a mirror.

Does it really matter if a model is discontinued? I've just bought a K-r and am looking forward to using it, my car was discontinued years ago but it still does what it was designed for and i still love it, it only matters if you want the latest model all the time!!
All the best

And come him slow or come him fast it is but death who comes at last.

I think folks are just excited about what the replacement will be like.
I'm a sucker for new gear although i dont buy it myself, I like reading the reviews of new cameras etc...
A new Pentax is even more exciting as its the brand I currently use

In any case these semantic discussions illustrate the need for some agreed on definitions, if for nothing else than calculating market size, shares, etc.
In my view the best idea may be to move away from technology based definitions towards something like mass-market, enthusiast, semi-pro, pro, although that is bound to cause much anguish in certain aspirational quarters.

It's actually semi-transparent, and there is a precedent with the Canon Pellix. This used the same idea in a film camera and there was no doubt it was still an SLR. It's just that the mirror doesn't move.
As for EVIL Mike, of course the abbreviation exists, but magazines and manufacturers alike are settling on CSC.
Of course, as long as we all know what we're talking about it may not matter much, but those new to the field may well find it rather confusing. Especially when we have a newcomer to digital who has just bought a Panasonic CSC and thinks he won't be able to learn with that because all the magazines teach using Canon and Nikon. I was talking to him about this last night and he really was going to buy another camera.

What I am about to relate is really pukka information. My source is my neighbour, who's cat is called Banzai and
once rubbed itself against a Japanese tourist and then started purring. Nobody can deny that this is an unimpeachable source. Also it was mentioned in this months issue of "What Bullsh*t"
The specs of the new camera are as follows;
All magnesium construction fully dust and weather sealed .
Powered by Kryptonite or did they Craptonite I'm not quite sure.
Articulated live view 3d screen which can be detatched and used as a standalone monitor and or projector.
60fps in Full Hd
Triple card slots with three class 10 128gb SDVHC cards included.
Full frame sensor
Noiseless ISO up to 4.5 million.
Fitted with any Pentax lens ever made it will switch on and focus automatically before you've picked it up (start up time from cold to ready to go .000305 nanoseconds)
In basic mode refuses to take an image unless considered worthy of acceptance at any international salon (FIAP approved)
A whole host of other features too radical to be announced before release date.
Price? Well complete with 6-60mm f1.2 distortion free lens and 60- 600mm f2 distortion free lens ....
.....£450 but this will drop as time goes on. (Both lenses come complete with variable power teleconverters rated 1.4 -20x magnification)
Ricoh/Pentax are keen to point out that immediately this camera retails in your area all current Pentax cameras will cease to operate permanently!!!!
Why do we concern ourselves with what might be ahead? Lets learn to use and enjoy the very capable cameras we have now.
Got to go Matron says I've been overdoing things.
