K-5 body - battery grip connector - blanking plug?

Hi folks

Done the predictable and lost the plastic blanking plug after fitting the battery grip!

Anyone know where I can get some more (I will lose at least another one!) , or if a standard "D-type" socket cover would fit?.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks - I'll get some next week, but, in the meantime, I've found that a small lump of Blutac works quite well!

You do realise there is a space in the grip to keep the plug safe while it is attached?

Thanks, no I did'nt! OTOH I've got a 3rd party grip and it may not have this space and so I will look tonight.

OH, and, later last night, I actually found the missing body plug deep inside my Lowepro pack (it has so many pockets, it is easy to forget where you put something very small!)

The third party grip I had previously had the same space so hopefully so will yours.

My grip does have a space into which the plug will fit - but I think it looks more like it was designed to take the plastic cap which goes over the multipin plug on the top of the grip when that is not fitted to the camera (there is also a slot for an SD card).

It should have space for both the plastic and rubber caps.

I looked straight past that and found a small space inside between the battery and the spare SD card!

Ahoy!

Hope you won't mind me interjecting a quick question.

I'm looking to get a generic VG for the K-5 from Amazon (UK). My research suggests that a D-Li90 li-ion battery fits in the grip via a battery tray and another remains in the camera body. Is this correct, and if so, do both batteries charge remaining show in the rear menu and is battery power swapping auto or manual?

Can a generic battery be used?

TIA.

Yes

No just the one in use

You choose which is discharged first in the menu settings, once the first is discharged, the second swaps in automatically

OK never noticed the space for the plug in the battery grip.

At least I have learnt one thing for a Sunday
