K 30mm f/2.8

Did anyone here win the K30 with an ME Super attached to it on ebay this morning?

No, but I have had one (without an ME Super), for a while now, and it is very satisfactory!

No, but I was bidding on it (too?). It went for just over £200 in the end, I think.

Thats not a bad price.

I sold mine for £270 to a fellow in Portugal. I have seen them listed for silly money £450 but it didn't sell.

It went for £206.55p in the end. There are a couple listed for between £300 and £400 BIN, £450 seems way over the top.

I bid on it but not enough!

Was it any good : Seems strange to me that people suffering from LBA say that the f/3.5's in 28mm and 35mm are better than the f/2.8's and then because the 30mm is rare suddenly f/2.8 becomes acceptable and sought after

I've had a 35mm f/2 M and a 28mm f/2.8 both of which weren't as good as Zoom lenses so I sold them. I've still got an f/2.8 A 28mm but even that's not as good as the 18-55mm Mk2 Kit Lens I also sold my 24mm A f/2.8 because although better than the 28mm and 35mm it didn't really seem any better than the Kit Lens.

I don't think it's the aperture so much as the rest of the lens. The 28/2.8 isn't as good as the 28/3.5, but they're completely different designs. I'd imagine Pentax looked at the older K 28/2 and decided there was no way to update it for the M series, hence the 2.8.

The 30mm's sale price was most likely boosted by its rarity - I know K series glass seems to go for a premium now even when it's something which is a great lens, but not a huge improvement over the M series (such as the 55/1.8 compared to the 50/1.7). That said, I have a weird enthusiasm for the 55mm as the field of view is just a bit more useful on digital for allowing you to stand at a safe distance from subjects in low light.

Just waiting for the inevitable slew of ME Supers with 50/1.7s listed for £200 BIN, from people who don't realise that the lot in question reached that price solely on the rare lens!

The sharpest 28mm I've ever had is an Ensinor 28mm f/2.8
It was an M42 lens that was like new in a box and I paid £5 for it
on ebay I already had an Ensinor K mount zoom that cost £10
so I changed over the mounts and it's now a pre-set K lens.... which
is unusual I later bought a proper K mount Ensinor 28mm for
£10 but it's got a sticky/slow iris and I haven't got round to
stripping it down. Only really good at f/8 though.

I've also got a few Vivitar 28mm's but the Ensinors better.

The old 135mm f/2.8 Ensinor M42 used to be my favourite 135mm
in the film days... Rare as hen's teeth. I've also got the
same lens in Olympus mount. Lovely smooth focus to below 1m.

Ensinor zooms aren't worth having. They do a 24mm as well which
usually goes for about £50.

My 24/2.8A is excellent, at least as good as the Sigma 24/2.8 Superwide copy I have. Good resolution, lovely colour, smooth rendering like a Zeiss lens.

My faourite is the 35/2.8A - not highly praised usually but does what I need it to do.

The K30 nearly always fetches more than £200, often nearer to £300. Whoever got it for £206.55p (plus a free ME Super) can easily resell it for a profit properly listed.

I agree. Over the Xmas period mine has been on the K10 pretty much all the time.

Have you had chance to compare both at f2.8? From what I've read the Sigma is better wide open link, and mine is superb at f2.8, but I'd much rather have the Pentax one for the better build quality! (Would really love an M 20mm f4 but can't really justify the £300+ cost..)
