Hi All!

It's nice we can finally talk about the K-30, although most of the information was leaked early, it seems!

I had a play with a pre-production unit a while ago, and it looks very interesting. The grip feels really nice and makes the handling very comfortable.

There is a special pre-order bundle from Pentax. All pre-orders will receive (when the camera is delivered) the following...

Adobe Photoshop Elements / Premiere Elements 10
Pentax Jupiter III 8x25 Binoculars
Neoprene SLR Strap

As an exclusive for Pentax User members we will also include...

8GB Class 10 SDHC Card
Spare Hama battery

If you wish to pre-order, please place a deposit via our website

Please mention that you are a forum member and your forum ID. Free postage, as usual, will apply when we send the camera to you.

Stock is due in early July

Suggested prices are as follows:

K30 Body - £679
K30 + 18-55 DAL - £699
K30 + 18-55 WR - £749
K30 + 18-55 WR & 50-200 WR - £949
K30 + 18-135 - £1049

All of the above are available in Black, Blue and White.

Any questions then please ask!

K30 and 18-55WR £749

Same price as K5 and 18-55WR, after which there is £80 cash back.

Are Pentax hoping to clear the K5's quickly?

Gah! So should I return the K-5 and 18-55mm I just got for £750 (£670 after rebate) and get a K30 for £10 more?

Considering I'm just about to pull the trigger on Photoshop Elements...

I'm guessing you didn't see the revised prices

The K5 is still a higher spec camera and it would be the one I'd go for if I was buying today.

Thanks WOodworm. I think I've got the pricing right. But I much prefer the look of the K-5 and I've already forked out for spare battery, SD card, and replacement strap so the bundle would have been handy but right now isn't quite as appealing.

Gonna stick with the K-5.

I'd stick with the K-5 if I could only have one of the two if only just for the higher capacity battery which is already not stellar.

At £599 though I will be getting one, shame we have to wait near two months to get to play with one!

Thanks Chris.
It is indeed a great ergonomic camera. If the Grip is as it looks, it means it is nice to handle (something you can't say about the triple digit Canons)
I also like the dual dials, and the TAv mode too.
I might just get one as a backup to my K-5, meaning I will get rid of my K20D, and possibly my *istDS too.
Just a shame it is too early for me before my Estonian trip......

oooooooh, shiny shiny.

maybe if i give up food for a while i can get one! it does look very nice, although i'm still not a fan of video.
Pentax k1000, MX, ME Super, K5iiD 18-55, Tamron 70-300, Tamron 500 mirror, pentax 10-17, 50 1:4, a manual 28, some extension tubes and a bagful of memory cards. That's all i need... and a load of film cameras too... that's it, honest.
