That is such a lovely capture, sure the last two are classic but any shot of a red is special.

Some great images there Barrie and Tom - I am still trying to even see one in the wild!

Thanks Carl. I would hardly call this one wild. Catching us by surprise when it just appeared at Toms feet, it even took a hazel nut from my hand.

Great shots. I've only ever seen them in captivity. The first of the second magnified on my 'puter then with a 5x desk magnifier I'm sure is a reflection of you Tom??????????????

Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

Very nice set Barrie. Glad it paid off. Did you not see the adders?
I am concerned that these little fellahs are too tame for their own good. There are some cruel people around, and last summer their were teenagers up their shooting with air rifles. With this in mind, can I suggest being careful where you share pictures of hand feeding

No sign of adders or crossbills Alan. We were only there about an hour before a team of tree surgeons arrived with a chain saw to tidy up the area for Health and Safety. At which point everything left, as did we.
I can see your point about them being too tame.
