JPS in Liquidation

I have just heard that Johnsons Photopia are in liquidation.

I don't have any further information at the moment, but no doubt we'll hear more as time goes by.

In the meantime, if anyone was about to send them anything then perhaps a good idea not to until things are clarified.
Best regards, John

Hmmm, thats not good. I believe they did a lot more than just Pentax warrant repairs didn't they?

Administration, so there's some hope. As you say, best to get in touch. Assuming they've still got the right staff you'd think repairs would be an easy way to produce revenue as your initial outlay costs zero

Sad to hear about the end of one of the oldest names in British photography. Whilst they didn't distribute as much as they used to they still had the brands on this page....

Hopefully the repair business will be sold off fairly quickly.

Thanks for that, pretty timely as my DA*300 F4 has started playing up with suspected SDM failure and I was just about to send it in for a check under warranty. I'm glad I'm lazy otherwise it would have gone to them at the end of last week.....
It still needs checking but maybe I'll contact SRS or Pentax to see what to do next.

If they've got any gear of yours though it's still yours, regardless of administration or even liquidation

Apologies if that's stating the obvious to you all, just wasn't sure if some weren't sure

TBH, based on my experience a couple of years ago, I can't say I'm totally surprised.

The next BIG question for "us" is which/where/when will any other company be taking over Pentax support in the UK?

OR, is this "The End" for Pentax in the UK?
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

First person to say the "D" word gets slapped with a wet fish.

Begbies Traynor are the administrators - as a Wrexham supporter I hold them in higher regard as they kept the club alive during the dark days of 2004-2006.

Let's hope for a good outcome.

They are certainly a reputable firm, unlike some other IPs

With a K3II replacement probably not due until sometime next year I thought I get a new shutter fitted to my broken K3.
My local Pentax dealer said he'd get me a price but when he got in touch with Pentax they said JPSS hold all the spares at the moment so they can't do any Pentax repairs but they are negotiating with the receivers to hopefully get it quickly resolved.

Guess I'll have to wait for a new shutter

Only just found out about this - as I was trying to chase up my K1 which went in for upgrade on 20th September. Hope I get a working camera back and not a box of bits.
