It's Jessops, but not as they were:

HSBC has written off £34 million to keep them afloat! Let's hope the staff are duly grateful.
And let's hope they sack that nitwit who expanded the company much too quickly, and replace him with somebody who knows one end of a camera from another.

I remember using their small shop in Leicester in the mid 70's. Always a large queue outside. It was Jessops that put a LOT of camera dealers out of business as they had no showroom and very low prices.
So we, the consumer, are indirectly responsible.
They then moved to a large retail premises on the Hinckley Road and had a "lens" Island. By that time their prices were higher and many nearby retailers advised handling the lenses etc. at Jessops then buy from them, cheaper!
What goes around...

When I first read By earlier this year, the firm had cut head office staff from 375 to 125 in less than two years. my thought was they're chopping the managers' heads off...
Kind regards,

The interesting thing is what happens next. Will Jessops start stocking Pentax again (or stocking anything)? Will they become a proper camera shop again?
Although many of us feel let down by Jessops the new 'owners' will have much better credit and Pentax may well be in talks. However bad they may be, the only alternative to most of us is Dixons, Argos, Asda, etc.

It looks like Jessops will survive a little longer, now that they are owned by HSBC.

I was only interested 'cause I wanted a cheap Tamron 18-250, ended up ringing on the old telethingy and collecting from a way off.
Still.....
K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.
Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...
PPG entries.
