Is it dust being thrown up off the runway in the second pic? If not it looks a little worrying
Think you could pull down the highlights a bit in more while hull detail and a nicer sky. Alternatively, invest in a circular polariser.

Are you cropping the images?
What size are the originals?
It appears the pixel count is perhaps too low, or converted from a lower number. I've accidentally cropped images and forgot to check when Photoshop sometimes puts a default value of 72dpi in the field.
If you are cropping only slightly smaller than full size, this will take a full size image and turn it into crap.
I make sure I leave the 'Resolution' field blank so that there is no pixel conversion (r3eduction or increasing).

Noticed plenty of jagged straight edges on the jpegs , is this due to in camera settings ? I have contrast , saturation and sharpness set in the middle of the scales.
The images improved following a run through 3rd party image batch resizer software. Although Adobe Photoshop was used initially no sharpening was done with that particular software.
Any ideas......thanks
