John, read your review of the kr.
Loved it.
a few questions for anybody out there that has got one handy....
Please tell me about the video functions..... and modes.. anything you can think of as it pertains to video please???
anybody got a link to a manual?

I have a project coming up soon and will be making a video with this camera.... for a local camera store... possibly next week...
I need to learn as much as possible asap, cause I don't intend to be fumbling around on the job... lol!
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Thanks Don, I loved the camera, it was just right.

I didn't have time to explore the video function, but hopefully someone out there will be able to help.
Best regards, John

Wish I had your gift for writing.... but I don't... best I can do is shoot some video and show people what the camera can do...

John may I ask did you consider the K5 at all when you bought the new camera and if so what made you go for the Kr. I ask as Im in the process of purchasing one or the other but not sure if I want to spend the extra cash on the K5 as the spec on the Kr looks probably all I would need.

Bought? I hope Pentax would be gifting JR cameras for his sterling work over the years.

I haven't bought the K-r yet, I was sent a loan camera to review, and it sadly had to go back after a couple of days, prised from my fingers....

Until I get a chance to look at the K5 in detail I can't really comment.

However, as I like the *istDS design more than the K10D/K20D design and as the K-r is very similar to that, it's pretty much ideal in terms of handling. I only moved from the *istDS for the improved image quality.

So we'll see...I'm in no rush as I need to buy two at once when I do upgrade the K20D bodies.
Best regards, John
