Have you installed the Pentax software?
Many people find it easier to use a card reader, and dispense with the USB connection. See my earlier post about a simple way to download using a small batch file.

Hi
When connecting via USB the following works every time ( on Windows 2000 )
1. Camera turned off with fully charged batteries or preferably powered by mains unit.
2. Connect USB cable to camera and computer
3. Turn camera on - PC should show in its display
4. Camera picture folder should appear as an additional drive ( My Computer )
5. Right click on the camera folder and select Copy
6. Paste into a folder on your computer
7. If you wish to delete the pictures from the camera, Right Click and delete in the camera folder.
8. When done Stop the USB device ( Icon in the Task Tray )
9. When the 'Safe to remove Device' window comes up turn the camera off and unplug
10. Hit the OK button on the window above.
Hope this helps.
Mike
